DAAP Building

Image result for daap building

At first glance the DAAP building on the University Of Cincinnati campus is just an awkwardly placed, disorganized pile of off centered and tilted rectangles. To a certain degree, this is truthful, but also there is a complex history to the pastel colored building. The building began as an art school that would cater to the production arts, but after the Great Depression the perspective of art changed in many people. Jay Chatterjee became the dean of the program in 1982 and began to combine the works of Michael Graves, Bernard Tschumi, Henry Cobb to make this new and improved building. The most iconic side of the school was added in 1995 and named the Aronoff Center for Design and Art. Today, the DAAP building is an iconic building in the United States and is home to one of the best art programs in the nation.

  2. DAAP is very cool and I visited UC and got to go through DAAP and talk to a professor about communicative design and fine arts and it was very cool getting to know what they hold in that building.

Last Blog Post

This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well. From a fellow artist: take the opportunities that you are given and work hard doing what you love.
