Mars Landing

NASA just landed a new rover on Mars with the best camera yet and it already has provided some pretty cool pictures. https://mars.nasa.gov/resources/25622/perseverance-navcams-360-degree-panorama/

graphic design

Graphic design is the art, profession and academic discipline whose activity consists in projecting visual communications intended to transmit specific messages to social groups, with specific objectives. I think that this is very cool because its essentially DMA as a profession, so if you enjoy DMA this could be a great thing for you to look into. I find it interesting to look forward to the future and apply what you enjoy into a job, being a graphic designer would be so fun.

Steep

For those winter lovers, skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts, and even just outdoor lovers, Steep is your game. Steep is a winter-based free roam game where you can go from skiing to flying with a jetpack. Steep has many locations you can roam around in, and even compete in the Olympics! I personally love playing steep in the summertime as a fun way to simulate winter skiing. I personally love the game and would 10/10 recommend it.

"The Dirt"

"The Dirt" is a film that was made in 2019, It takes place in the '70s and '80s, and its about the rise of the very popular and Notorious rock band MÓ¦TLEY CRÃœE and stars many familiar faces such as Machine Gun Kelly as Tommy Lee, Douglas Booth as Nikki Sixx, Iwan Rhoen as Mick Mars, and Daniel Webber as Vince Neil. The movie starts off as a look into the future at a party and creatively introduces each character and does a great job showing their personalities. I love this movie because of the way it portrays not only how people lived back in but the life of Rock n' Roll. I've listened to Motley Crue since I was about 12 and seeing this movie makes listening to their music so much better. I would recommend this movie but Viewer Discretion is advised as it is Rated R. If you like Motley Crue and Rock in general this is a must watch.

B. Montero

BJenny Montero is a new favorite artist of mine that I discovered very recently. Her main thing is making what some would call "wholesome" comics. She has a few main characters including a duck, golden retriever, frog, and inch worm. Her drawing style is very unique, that's why I think I like it so much. I thought this would be very fitting to post about considering we have been drawing characters for animate recently! I attached some of my favorites down below.

Ethan Jewell

Ethan Jewell is a guy I had came across my tik tok page a little while ago who had the username Jewellboi. His videos were little snip its of poems that were almost like songs that he had wrote. His songs/poems, have a very deep meaning behind them and touch topics that I feel a lot of people especially nowadays go through and struggle with. I found Ethan on apple music and he has one album called Living The Dream along with about 4 singles and EPs. The picture above his one of the covers to his single Dreams.

Untitled Goose Game

The Untitled Goose Game is a game made by House House. The game is pretty simple: you're a goose and you walk around wreaking havoc throughout a village. The character models throughout the game are fairly simple. The people who live in the village don't even have full faces; just noses and hair. The simplicity of the models is what gives the game its character and makes it a fun experience. It's nice to see a game that has such a simple art style get as popular as games that are insanely detailed.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

I recently got the new game Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury for Nintendo Switch. It is just a port of 3D World from the Wii U, but it has a new feature with Bowers's Fury. This game costs $60 and I got my copy from Gamestop with a preorder bonus with 2 posters. So far I have completed the Bowser's Fury part of the game and I am really close to beating the 3D World part. It is a really fun game.

Attack on Titan Season 4

Attack on Titan Season 4 is an absolute masterpiece. Ever since I started watching the new season it has continued to blow me away with its crazy visuals and surprisingly deep morals. I don't remember the last time I was this invested and cared so much about a show like this.

Joel Haver

Joel Haver is a creator on youtube I just found the other day. He does a ton of sketch videos, but one type of video he makes is rotoscope comedy sketch videos. He uses this animation to show he's in a video game or like in an animated tv show. I think the animation really adds to the comedy because sometimes the animation software he uses messes up and it can go really well with his dry humor. In the video above he explains how to make these types of animations, so if you would like to try it go for it.

Clinton Kane Chicken Tendies

A small artist named Clinton Kane blew up on TikTok a few months ago for posting a small clip of his unreleased song. The song had not been titled yet and he left it up to his followers to name it. They came up with "Chicken Tendies", not sure why, but he went with it and released the song. The song is climbing the charts and is becoming very successful.

The Scream

Above "The Scream" is pictured. Edvard Munch made this piece in 1893. This piece has been the focus of lots and lots of research, many people question what the piece is truly about, I don't know myself, but I do know one thing: during a trivia match this past Thursday, I correctly guessed that this piece was sold for 120 million dollars. Who woulda known. I got my team a point, and we won the match by a point. In summation, I'm mad clutch and this is a cool painting.

Favorite Star Wars: The Clone Wars Shots

I remember watching bits of Clone Wars as a kid. I loved the story and thought it was a fun show to watch. However, when Disney+ came out and I was so excited to watch it. One thing I noticed was the composition of some shots in the show. So, here are some of my favorite pretty pixels. I'm sorry if all of these are Ahsoka Tano. She's my favorite. *Spoilers for all of Clone Wars* Vader in Season 7, Episode 12 (Victory and Death)   Ahsoka and Darth Maul in Season 7, Episode 10 (Phantom Apprentice) Obi-Wan in Season 5, Episode 17 (The Lawless) Ahsoka and Anakin in Season 5, Episode 20 (The Wrong Jedi) Obi-Wan and Satine in Season 5, Episode 17 (The Lawless) Can you tell what my favorite arcs are?

Nintendo Direct 2.17.2021 - Who will be the final DLC character?

Yesterday's Nintendo Direct showed off several upcoming games such as Splatoon 3, Project Triangle Strategy, MarioGolf, and the Skyward Sword Switch-port. People definitely seem to be most interested in the Super Smash Bros DLC reveal. The characters announced yesterday were Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. These two will count as one character and will be interchangeable in-game, similar to Zelda and Shiek. This means that only one character remains in this fighter pass. After Nintendo rocked the internet with reveals such as Joker from Persona, Banjo-Kazooie, Steve from Minecraft, and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy, there's a lot of high expectations around the next reveal. All the fans have their favorite characters that they want to see and are speculating who will be next. Some of the most wanted characters include Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Dante from Devil May Cry, Crash Bandicoot, Geno from Super Mario RPG, Master Chief from Halo, and several more. Now that o

Reversal of the Heart

Since we are animating now, I wanted to share this one animator that really made me interested in animation awhile back. They are amazing at animating, and the story was nicely put together. Here's their animation that made me interested in this whole class. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHLwG3ioD4Y

Disney and expressions

What I have recently learned about the Walt Disney animation studio is that Walt told his team of animators that exaggeration is key. A great example of this is in Disney's first full length feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The seven dwarfs' expressions are what drives their personalities. Lets take Grumpy for instance. When you see him he is really grumpy. His arms are pretty much always crossed and he has his eyebrows narrowed pretty much all the time. In conclusion, expressions and exaggerations are a must when animating how a character feels.

Mob Psycho 100

In light of the new year as well as our new animation unit, I've been rewatching some of the anime I enjoy, and Mob Psycho 100 is an absolute must. They manage to do an absurdly overpowered character and make them fun, and is only about 20 episodes long right now, which both stand well by themselves. The show doesn't take itself very seriously but still has some powerful moments, aided by the absolutely fantastic animation from the studio Bones. A fun short show I would absolutely recommend.

Soul

As we are doing animation in class right now, I have decided to blog about the animated movie Soul, which has become very popular. Although the movie is animated and may seem like it is only appealing to kids; the movie has a much deeper meaning and I think people of all ages would enjoy this film. One reason I chose this is because of the characters and animation presented in the film. It reminds me of what we are doing right now in class. The blob-like characters or "souls" look like the types of characters we would create. The background also looks like something we would create with the gradient sky and the hills.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Title Announcement

The "Sonic The Hedgehog" sequel just got it's title and logo announced. It will be called "Sonic The Hedgehog 2" showing a pretty cool logo with a number 2 growing two tails to revolve around Sonic's sidekick Tails. The trailer for the title announcement looked awesome with the entrance and the "Emerald Hill Zone" music and it gives me hope that the sequel will hopefully be as awesome as the first one. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 will be in theaters April 8th 2022 and I can't wait to see it, and I also hope that you go see it to. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Official Movie Announcement Teaser

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I have recently been playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is a game availible on the Nintendo switch, and I had no idea how much I would appreciate the graphics here! The creators put so much time and effort into every little detail of this game, and it shows. In addition, the story is very interesting. I have never played a Zelda game in my life before this, but I am so happy I discovered them!

Valheim

The new trending battle royal video game Valheim has had a huge burst in popularity and good reviews. I have had an extremely good start with having an average of over 80 thousand people tuning in to the game on twitch. With these numbers let alone puts it into the top games at the moment. The game is very similar to other battle royal games such as Fortnite, rust, and many for. I think this definitely has to do with the huge amount of support the game is getting. IT has been a huge factor that battle royal games have recently taken over the gaming community.

Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 This is probably my favorite Disney movie ever. I was watching it the other day and thought that it was so cool how all of it is animated. I really like animation, so seeing it turn out to make that long of a movie is crazy to me. All of the Toy Story movies are so cool, but this one has always been my favorite. This one is cool because they're in the school and there are just so many toys, and I think it's cool that they're all doing something different.

NRG eSports

NRG is an eSports organization with many popular competitive players and content creators. The team competes and creates content in many popular video games such as Rocket League, Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Valorant. Recently, I came into contact with one of their graphic designers for the team after I created a social media banner for one of their Rocket League professional players Mariano "Squishy" Arruda. They expressed their liking in the social media banner for Twitter which made me feel really good about my work. She mentioned more about the creative team and how it isn't very developed which sparked a motive for me that I could possibly be part of a creative team as big as NRG eSports. Their aesthetic is very modern and simplistic and I am going to be taking on a passion project to create a team branding portfolio in a new more trendy style while holding onto the roots of the flat colors with their logo and necessary assets.

'Harry Potter' TV series

There is a rumor the harry potter franchise will be expanding to the television side of Hollywood. While nothing is set in stone at the moment it sounds like HBO will the bringing this project to life. It's still in the early stages but if it does become a show I cant wait to see it! It will be interesting to see which paths they decide to take while writing it. Will it be focused on what happens to their kids in school? Will the original cast members are featured or will they be starting over? I guess we will just have to wait and see!  https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/harry-potter-live-action-tv-series-in-early-development-at-hbo-max-exclusive

Pip- A short animated film

This week I decided to blog about a short animated film like we are doing in class. This story is about a dog named who is in school to become a service dog but continues to make mistakes. He is too short to get his own food and raise his hand. And he struggles to lead his teacher without her running into things. Finally, it comes to test day and he fails and gets kicked out of school. He then sees a blind women and leads her to safety. His teacher sees his action and rewards him with a pride award. This animation does a great job making people care about Pip.

TikTok

I like TikTok because it gives artists and people a platform to post their work. I follow plenty of photography accounts that teach certain techniques with editing as well as taking pictures. I have learned a lot that I might not have been able to learn if it weren't for TikTok.

brent ii

Recently Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler came out with a new album and it has been a hit. I've been waiting for this since their last mini-album and it didn't disappoint.

Nemo

I chose finding nemo because I based my animation off of this movie I really enjoy the story line and the way it was animated. Below I will copy a video of the different techniques they used in the movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2zx3gcuXnk
