This weekend I discovered a new film called Extremely Wicked. It is about Ted Bundy and his life of a serial killer. Zac Efron is the main actor and as you can see they are trying to make him fit in the 1980s with his clothing. Also there is a certain filter they seem to be using to make it more warm and old fashioned looking. I am really excited to see this movie when it comes out.

Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered

Assassin's Creed 3 which is one of my favorite games is getting remastered in March. The original game came out in 2012. The graphics, animations, and many game play issues are getting re-done. Remasters are really good at capturing nostalgia. I'm really excited to play a modern version of one of my favorite games.
This is from Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs. I though the animation looked really cool for the time period it was made.

Overture Awards 2019

Congratulations to Anna-Claire Barker.  She has been selected as one of only 18 Visual Art  Semi-Finalists  in the Cincinnati Overture Awards.  Good luck to her in the Semi-Final judging on Saturday February 9, 2019. .   The Overture Awards is a program that recognizes, encourages and rewards excellence in the arts among Tri-state students in grades 9-12. Mad Max: Fury Road - Storyboard to Screen

One of my favorite films is Mad Max: Fury Road. There is practically no dialogue in the entire movie, so when George Miller sat down to write the film, he decided that it would be better to hire a team of people to storyboard his vision. Script to Screen is a Twitter page that compares the film to its screenplay, but here the storyboards from Fury Road are compared to the scenes, and it is so fascinating to watch.

Slimesunday

These are some of the works of slimesunday. A student by day and a digital artist by night they make  pieces of art that really draw in the human eye. Not only do they draw your attention, they make you want to keep looking. They're very illusive and vibrant - which adds ambiance and originality. Instagram: @slimesunday
I love the colors use for the fire it just brings so much attention to batman. Great movie!

Captain Marvel

As march is coming up, I'm excited to see Captain Marvel. I think the decision to make the colors of the costumes and space/galaxy more vibrant intrigues the eyes. This film will be released before Avengers End Game which comes out towards the end of April. I'm excited to see how Captain Marvel influences the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Dragon in the Woods by Simon Fetscher

I came across this digital painting on pinterest and I am really impressed by it. It looks like a real painting and you can tell the artist put a lot of effort into this piece and is very talented.
This is a super creepy drawing that I found on Google. I really like how there's people looking into another person. It really creates a creepy feeling yet a super interesting feeling as well.
Over the four day weekend I went on a trip to Pittsburgh. while in Pittsburgh I went to the Pittsburgh  art museum and at the same museum there were old dinosaur bones.                                      .

People Pot Pie

Ashley Newman an Etsy seller has made a twist to the original baking and created what viewers are calling “people pot pie”. I was intrigued with this Becuase it shows how you can make almost anything into art, even a pie.

Calligraphy Pens

For Christmas I got a set of Tombow Calligraphy pens. I love most script fonts as text in my digital work and as it has become more popular I challenged myself to see if I could recreate those by hand. It's been so fun watching videos and trying new techniques to learn how to. I think it is really cool to see the two medias clash (digital and hand lettering) as they have a common goal yet exercises a whole new creative aspect mentally. I'm still learning but it's fun to try.

9/11 Memorial, Museum, and Photography

I am currently on the NYC/Philadelphia/Washington D.C. trip for school. So far the trip has been good and lots of fun. The other students and I have had many photo and learning opportunities that I cannot wait to share when I get back! While in NYC, the group and I visited the 9/11 Memorial Museum and I was stunned by the photographs, artifacts, and information we got to take in. I included one of my favorite photographs below. The chaos illustrated is breath taking. Among all the others, the photograph was beautifully horrific. Each and every life involved with 9/11 was honored both at the memorial and the museum, and it truly brought things into perspective. I would highly recommend visiting the memorial/museum if you are ever in NYC. “South Tower Collapsing”, photography by Richard Drew.

Digital Picture of Bryce Harper

This is a digital picture I found of Bryce Harper wearing a Phillies uniform which he might be wearing next season depending on what team he signs with. I thought this was a cool picture because it's really similar to the digital portrait project we did a little while ago. In the past I would've just looked at this as any other picture, but now I have a greater appreciation for all the work that was put into this piece.

Jennaportraitartist

I found about Jenna’s portraits from Instagram and was amazed by the talent she could create by just colored pencils. Her neon explosive color choice makes the highlights and shadows pop, making the images come of the page. Her perspective choice on her subjects makes the come alive.

If Beale Street Could Talk (2018)

If Beale Street Could Talk, directed and written by Barry Jenkins, is a love story set in 1970's Harlem. After seeing this movie, it immediately became one of my favorites of the year. The cinematography, done by James Laxton, is absolutely stunning and enticing, and their use of color really reflects the emotions that the characters are going through. The score is also one of the best I have heard all year as well. But the visuals do not carry the movie, the acting is just as phenomenal. I hope this movie gets a few Oscar wins, as Barry Jenkins proves to us once again that he knows how to make a beautiful movie.

THE Big CHUNGUS

This is the most iconic meme so far of 2019 this is pure art. This is the art that makes me laugh everyday. I present to you.......BIG CHUNGUS

Scribbled Actors

Any time I feel like I have artist's block I always turn to Pinterest. Pinterest is a fantastic way to get inspired, learn new techniques, and improve your skills as an artist. I found these fantastic drawings that intrigued me right away so I had to share. I love how much movement the lines show and how well the artist replicated the faces of these famous actors. Not only is the penmanship phenomenal but the expressions that the models show truly captures their personalities. If you consider yourself an artist, or even if you don't, I highly recommend creating a Pinterest account.

Over time he was noticed by Luka Sabbat, an influencer from New York. They then formed "Hot Mess", their creative scapegoat, a collection of art, photography, clothing, music, and or anything they  can master. Over the year Hot Mess has had multiple installations and art galleries showing off all their work and Photographs. Looking to take over the industry, it's truly something unique.

Beijing Olympics

For our BPA project, we have become intimately familiar with the Olympic cities, and past games. For our animation, we decided we would do something with the Beijing 2022, as that is where the next Winter Olympics is being held. I love the logo that the Olympic Committee designed. The bright colours have a nice contrast with the black text, and the colours are well balanced. It's just aesthetically pleasing.

3D Animation

My team and I chose to do 3D Animation for BPA and this is our model. In the image you are seeing the rigging process which is the process of being able to make the model move and actually be animatable. It's a very difficult process but once you get the hang of it it's actually pretty fun.

Into the Spider Verse Scene

I recently saw the new Spider-Man movie and I was blown away.  Not only was the story telling some of the best I’ve seen in years, but the animation was amazing.  I loved how the animation was used to tell the story and was part of the story.  This scene when Miles takes the leap of faith is incredible.  The detail on the glass as it breaks is crazy and the world becomes inverted as Miles’ life changes forever.

into the spiderverse

Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse was one of my favorite movies of last year. I'm not usually a fan of animated movies but the art style and creativity of this movie was fantastic. It mixed a comic book style and 3D animation style and the result was amazing.

Aquaman

The new movie Aquaman has really cool effects with very vibrant and cool colors. Each character is associated with different colors that makes the character who they are. Here are a few examples:
This image is one I found online giving me inspiration for my BPA logo design. I love the way they got multiple famous things of Washington into the single image and how it doesn't look smashed together.
