COMING SOON!

Guys this awesome movie is coming out next year made by yours truly. This sequel will blow the First animation out of the water. Here is a sneak peak

DMA I 2015 Websites

As this year comes to a close, we wanted to take this opportunity to send out the web links to the portfolios of the DMA I  students. These websites are works in progress that these students will continue revise and add to next year.  If you have a minute, take a look at the wonderful art they have created. These talented students are looking for internships, commissions, networking, and job opportunities that will help them achieve their future career goals.  If you like their work, please contact them directly for your photography, illustration, design, animation, video and filmmaking needs!  Please forward their portfolios to anyone you know who might be interested in their work. 30 things to draw

Some of us juniors just got the summer assignment for AP DMA next year. We're going to be doing a lot of drawing and stuff for the next few months, and sometimes I know I get bored or lose my creativity, so here are 30 things I found on Pinterest to get your creative juices flowing. This doesn't just have to be for the sketchbook thing, it can be for anyone who wants to draw.

Sometimes you have to get out of town for the best photos

I used saturation and contrast editing tools on this photo to create jealousy in the viewing audience. I love this photo because nature photography can be stunning and shows that while you're in Ohio, I'm in beautiful sunny Florida.
This is a peice I did early in the year I really think its interesting. This was one of my favorites over the years.

DivineImmortality

These great pieces of art are by DivineImmortality on Deviantart. Her links are here  (youtube), here  (Twitter), and  here  (Deviantart). The shading and lighting is beautifully done for one thing. The animation is gorgeous, smooth and flawless for another. The anatomy of the character is accurate. The textures of the pictures are realistic to the anime world. They are really beautiful pieces. They look like they were drawn by the creators of the animes themselves. I adore this artwork and I would give anything for this talent. The artist uses  Paint Tool SAI & PS6 with an intuos pro tablet.

Hey guys, it's Ash Schweinlin ( aka whoever the hell). This last year of school has been pretty much a waste of time except  for AP DMA. This class was one of the most fun classes I've ever taken in high school. I had a blast and I've had the opportunity to create a whole bunch of art, some that i wouldn't have been able to create otherwise. This autumn I'm going to Ohio State University to study Japanese and some sort of art (面白いだね〜). I plan on using OSU's abroad programs to jump oversees and live full time in Japan to work as a magazine artist. I'm really looking forward to experiencing a new culture. I think it'll be a huge creativity boost! Before I'm gone for like forever, I really wanna thank Mrs. Shields and Mrs. Barnes for everything they've done to help me artistically. I'm the kind of person who doesn't finish anything, so without their help I probably couldn't have made it to where I am now. See you guys!!

Wayne White

This is a painting by a man named Wayne White. He is one of my favorite artists. He buys old paintings from thrifts stores and then paints funny, sarcastic things over them. This isn't his only work. He also worked on "Pee Wee's Playhouse" and created one of the Smashing Pumpkins music video art. I highly suggest you watch the documentary about him called "Beauty is Embarrassing".

I got the whole world in my hands

Hey guys! I'm Morgan and of course I post late but I saw this typography on Pinterest and fell in love with it. I love the contrast between the text and the background photo. I also love cities so I obviously had to share this!

CYA

Hey, I am Kirby. I took DMA 1 last year, and I honestly had no intentions of doing anything with art. To be honest, last year I just scheduled this class to fill up space for my senior year. I am really happy I actually took this class though, not only have I learned a lot about art, but I have really enjoyed working with (some of) the people in here. Mrs. Shields is an amazing teacher, and although it sometimes seems like she is just getting on you for random stuff, she is actually molding you into a young adult and an aspiring artist. I am really proud of the work that I have accomplished this year, and although I am going to UC for Pharmacy, I am glad I took this class. Not only has it made me proud, but it has also made my family proud of me, and that is definitely important. Good luck to the future AP students. I'm sure you guys will make awesome art work and become great artists!

Portfolio website

I was on Pinterest looking at portfolio layouts since we are making our websites this week and found this pin. This website  has questions and answers about what to consider and avoid when creating an online portfolio and I thought it could be helpful.
With the end of the year coming up fast, I have my senior year to think about, since I'll be taking AP DMA. I'm trying to come up with future concentration piece ideas ahead of time, and seeing that I draw profile portraits for money, I thought that I could work this skill into whatever I end up deciding to do. Instead of just doing plain, boring people though, I think that working a sense of fantasy and nature into the profiles, much like the drawing to the right, could be fun. I love the way that they took the elegance of a side profile and the beauty of nature, then mashed them together to come up with these end results. You could easily work underlying messages into your art as well when mixing the human physiology with components of the world around us. I just think that the way that the women almost fuse with the plants is wonderful to look at. I'm in love with the use of cool and warm coors in the top picture.

The Lily Camera... Read this Before You Judge It

If a drone and a GoPro had a baby, you'd get Lily - the worlds first throw-and-shoot camera. Lily  is a flying camera for people who are more concerned with getting the perfect shot than piloting a quadcopter .  There is no radio controller for the Lily Camera, or at least it's not a typical one with sticks and switches. You just strap on a puck-shaped tracking device. Using GPS and visual subject tracking, the puck lets Lily know your position, distance and speed so it can keep you in the shot. Out in front is a built-in camera that uses the same 12-megapixel Sony sensor found in the GoPro HERO3 . With 12-megapixel stills, that camera can capture 1080p video at up to 60 frames per second or 720p at 120fps.        Since the Lily is tethered to the tracker, it has a more limited range than other drones. With a minimum distance of 5 feet from you to a maximum of 100 feet, it can reach a top speed of 25mph.        Files can be stored to a microSD card into an externa

Goodbye

Hi everyone, Carissa Kloeker here. These past two years of DMA been fun, though I may have had time that I struggled through it but I still managed to make it through these two years. I have Mrs. Shields to thank for where I am today, I have ran into a lot of problems over the years. But, I have also had a lot of good opportunities over the two years. Some of the pieces I have created this year have amazed me, I never thought I could make something like that. Just like my concentration I never thought it would turn out as well as it did, but I never gave up on any of my work and I continued to push myself to my limits. Now, I will be attending Sinclair, in the Visual Communications program. So, now its time to say goodbye to high school

Kylie Gay

Hujambo! Hey guys, its just me, Kylie. Today I am parting with the blog SO, with that being said i'd like to give some senior advice, for your AP travels. Okay, so this is how it will happen. You sign up all bright eyed and excited about AP. THEN, you get the summer assigmentS hard emphasis on that "S" because there is more than one. Okay, senior confession... I chose to wait until 3 days before the first day of school to do it all.. bad choice. So use the first week of summer to knock it out. Then you can just forget all about it. Next piece of advice; honestly, when Shields tells you to do something, just do it because, she is ALWAYS right its kind of annoying, I know, I dealt with it for two years but, without her I wouldn't have been as successful in my art career here at Kings, just listen to her and seniors, this isn't just for art, this is for college, dating, life decisions and everything few far and between. Next, really take it in when she teaches y
This picture reminds me of Salty the Snail and how "slow" he is in my animation.

AP DMA Class of 2015

As this year comes to a close, I wanted to take this opportunity to send out the web links to the portfolios of the 9 AP DMA Seniors that will be graduating in a few short days.  If you have a minute, take a look at the wonderful work they have created during their time in high school. So I'm sure by now everyone is familiar with crayon art, I know i see it everywhere. Usually its the crayons at the top of the canvas melted with a blow dryer type deal. But I came across some more creative pieces. There is all sorts of ways to do it, my favorite so far is broken pieces on the canvas melted together like the first pic, however I enjoy the flower piece as well. Just a cheap and simple little project that could take many different directions, all you need is crayons and heat!
Hey guys! I love the meaning this piece of art portrays. She is so deep in thought and in her zone, and it's fascinating to see someone so captivated by what they're doing. So many thoughts, ideas, and creativity without any words being said. It just shows us how amazing our minds can be. I love the colors and the simplicity of the scene.
Hey Guys! So i found this artist that uses her food to create art. I really like the creativity behind each piece. Her name is Hong Yi. If you google her name you can find other types of art she does, as well as more of her food creations. Hope you enjoy!

styrofoam art

This was made for a dear friend who recently passed. This piece is made completely out of finely cut pieces of styrofoam. They were all colored and put together very meticulously. The artist began this just for fun one day a few years ago and it is now a profession of his.
Hi. My name is Cassidy Foley. I have 2 weeks left of high school. My high school experience has been pretty weird. There have been bad decisions, songs that have made me feel like my chest was going to explode, I've skipped school just so I can see what the sunrise looks like behind the school,  i've slacked off in DMA because I thought that my art wasn't good enough, I've changed my mind a lot about what I was doing with my life. DMA happens to be the only thing that has remained static to me, the only thing that I've been sure about my whole high school career. I have a lot of people to thank for that. (Mrs. Shields mostly... but I don't think i'll ever be able to muster up the perfect goodbye for her.) But thank you for checking off DMA on your schedule sheets, and making art that is inspiring. Continue what you're doing. Keep working hard no matter what. That's the most important thing. Sounds cliche, but it's cliche for a reason.
Some models of the legendary bounty hunter and what he will look like in the up coming Star Wars Battlefront 3.

Lighter

This is a sketch of a lighter that i did about a year ago. I put it into illustrator and did a live trace and then colored it in photoshop. In the sketch I did I colored the fire with watercolors, and in photoshop i changed it to look like smoke.

What time is it?

Music video + High school Music + Summer = :)

White stripes

While researching for music videos for my DMA project I stumbled across this very unique music video. I really enjoy how they use legos for the characters and make it a stop motion.

Maroon 5 - Sugar

We just finished filming week for our music videos and in the search for good examples, I came across Sugar by Maroon 5. I really like how everything seemed very planed out and how well each surprise worked. You can also tell how much effort was put into each surprise.

Sandcastles in the Sand (if you got that reference you're cool)

Its almost summer time, which means lots and lots of sand castles!!! These pictures amaze me because I can barely make a small sand castle let alone an entire sculpture! I always wonder how much time people put into these things or if they ever have to start over due to weather, or random people running into it. Anyway, that's all I have to say.... less than 25 days left of school! Hooray!
