nyc

I recently went on the New York trip with the business program. I had the opportunity to bring the Canon t1i with me to take pictures. Here are some of my favorites that I got.

Henrietta Harris

I found Henrietta Harris's website on Pinterest and I love her drawings especially in her Landmarks and Features series. She left negative space for the faces and really focused on the hair for the portraits. I love the contrast and detail in these drawings, and think Harris has beautiful paintings as well! Click here to see more work.

Animator vs. Animation

If you have never seen the masterpiece that is the Animator vs. Animation series, or even if you have watch it again, I would highly recommend watching these great feats of animation. This guy Alan Becker ( YouTube Channel ) created this little series almost ten years ago and he shows great animation skills that follow the Preston Blair style that we have been practicing. Enjoy!
This little guy is the main character in my animation i'm currently working on. His name is Kyle because thats the coolest name I could come up with. He is pretty goofy and resembles me. I like the way he looks and the way he moves his arms. In my story Kyle is trying to cross a bridge but has a few challenges along the way.

Senior Art Show 2017

History Of Animation

"The History Of Animation" By: Jack Webb This short documentary by Jack Webb shows the evolution of animation. Dating all the way back to 1609 and ending in the early 2000's. It shows all the different techniques of animations throughout time, as well as different tools that have been used. Some of these techniques include drawing frame by frame on paper, to techniques we use in Adobe Animate today. I really enjoyed this video and I highly suggest you watch it if you have the time.

Obstacle course animation

I really thought this was funny and cute, as a group of animators for stick figures put their characters to the test in a obstacle course collab. I think its a creative idea, and funny to watch the stick figures try to complete the course. Of course not all of them make it.

"Paper" art

These pieces are made by an artist named Eiko Ojala and appear to be made out of paper. I was very surprised to learn that he actually creates these digitally by hand. I think that these pieces are very eye-catching and his technique does a great job of creating the illusion that his pieces are actually made of paper.

Paintings Come to Live in Gallery

Skullmapping is an artistic collective founded in 2010 by Fillip Sterckx and Antoon Verbeeck. Fillip is an award winning film maker and visual artist, and Antoon is a fine arts painter who runs his own gallery.  They create projection mapping projects, VR experiences and holograms. Their passion is to develop stories and present them in a new way, in order to surprise the audience.

Bright and Colorful Digital Art

An artist named Jeremy Young, makes unique portraits of people through Illustrator and Photoshop using vectors and paintbrushes creating colorful shadows that compliment the face's unique shadows. Here's a link to his website:  http://ego-alterego.com/bright-colorful-digital-art-jeremy-young/#.WM_VbJMrJPU
These are done by an artist name Jane Long, I really love her process of creating art. She finds old pictures, colorizes them and adds a surreal element to each of them. I like how they all tell a story and leave you wanting more. I'm really drawn to the overall mood of the images, they are dark and creepy. I'd definitely recommend looking up more of her work they are really interesting and technically done very well.

Story Animation

The Girl and the Fox I found this short story animation on Youtube and I thought it was really cute and had a good story. I thought this animation had really cool camera angles that made it look more life-like. Also, I like the simplified style of the characters and the way they move.  I also like how there's no dialog in this animation and you have to figure out what is going on. I think watching this animation and looking at others might give you inspiration or be a sort of guide for your animation story.
I found some really cool illustrator paintings that are pretty interesting. Let me know how you feel about them! I like how they use all the different colors to make the face.
I found some cool GIF's that could easily be made by any of us with a little work. Kinda cool you can show off to your friends with your very own GIF!
Here are some fun and cute gifs i found Because we are working on animation right now. I didn't really like animation in intro but i'm having more fun with it this time around.

Little Animations

Since we are starting our animations in DMA, I decided to look for some inspirations. Here is a little 30 second animation of a polar bear :3 This is a segment from a larger project, but it is something to look at to help with some timings and maybe shot types of scenes. I like the artist's art style that, to me, almost looks like ripped paper. This segment of a project has a little story in itself. I will be getting some inspiration off of this and maybe someone else will too. :3

Polaroid pictures

I just recently went to New York on a class trip. I took a Polaroid camera with me because of all the interesting scenery of the places we traveled  I really love Polaroid pictures because they're unlike any other picture and you cannot have a pre setting when taking the picture that you can have when taking a picture on a Canon camera.
I stumbled upon this video while scrolling through social media earlier today. I think it's interesting to see how various jobs and career paths incorporate art into what they do. Also seeing different forms of art that I've never seen before is very cool. I definitely would love to eat any of these desserts... also wish I was creative enough to make a dessert look this yummy!!

The History Of Gloves - in Cartoons, At Least.

I came across this interesting video giving both artistic and historical explanations as to why so many cartoon characters (Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny, to name a couple) wear gloves. There's more to it than you'd think! (Both good AND bad reasons.)

Governor's Regional Results 2017

Congratulations to the following students whose work was selected at the regional judging of the Ohio  Governor's Youth Art Exhibition .  Wish them luck as their works now compete at the State level next. From the 12,000 regional entries from the 15 regions, approximately 2,500 are selected to enter the state judging. State jurors then select 300 for the actual exhibition, with 25 of the 300 chosen to receive the Governor's Award of Excellence. Digital Animations

In class we are getting ready to work on our digital animation project and this project is super interesting to me due to the fact that the characters are endless. You can make a character out of virtually anything. Your character could be as complex as a the robot in Rich Chigga's  music video, or it could be as basic as a red ball. Below I have attached just some examples of digital animations I have found on the internet.

Simple Storytelling

I absolutely love this comic! It has no dialogue but it conveys feeling so well that you can't help caring about the character. This comic is also a good example of a simple yet effective story arc. I also love the style of the comic. The sketchy style would give enough freedom that it could be easily animated. Overall just a good example of how a simple story can make you care so much.
