Flip Book Animation

I thought this was fitting considering we are entering our unit into animation. It's a cool way to think of new ideas and tell mini stories. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LG4OSk1gE0

Amrinariska

Amrinariska is the name of a blog on Tumblr that I've recently found. The blog is run by a journalist, and she often posts pictures like these, which I think are very powerful. She tackles different social issues through her posts, and I love to see this kind of stuff going around. It gets me thinking about different things, and I relate to quite a few of her posts. If you want to see more posts like these, then you can follow her blog at aminariska.tumblr.com
I found this vector portrait to be extraordinary. The way they captured the features of John Lennon is beautiful. This piece is bright with colors that pop and it makes me want to attempt to create another significant portrait, but this time using an unconventional color scheme. I hope that this art inspires someone else as much as it inspired me.

Artist of Today and Tomorrow

Alex Fleigel graduated last year from Kings and currently attends The University of Cincinnati to explore a creative career. I am a huge fan of her work, especially her photography which is showcased on her vsco account that I happen to follow. I look to her for inspiration in almost everything I do because not only is she very talented, but it's very cool seeing a Kings graduate pursuing a career in the arts and being successful. Below are some my favorite pieces of hers, as well as the link to her vsco. Enjoy! http://vsco.co/alexfliegel/images/1

Silver Fir Media

I found this company filming at my dad's work a couple years back. They were filming a promo commercial for the Great Parks of Hamilton County, which is were my dad works. After I watched the film of my dad's work, I wanted to do Cinematography. I contacted them about wanting to do an internship for a year, they were interested, but later on down the road. When I see their videos I strive to be as good as them. Watching their videos inspire me, and I hope they inspire you!

DJI's New Mavic Air

DJI just released their newest addition to the line of drones they produce. This drone shoots 4k video at a very small size. With a price of $799 it only weighs 430g and 168×83×49 mm, making it extremely easy to travel with. Attached below is a link with all the exact specs. Clout

Below I have attached the highlights of one of the greatest passers to ever play in the NBA. His name is Jason Williams but his buddies call his White Chocolate and in my eyes I see him as more of an artist than a basketball player. The passes this man can make are more beautiful than seeing the Mona Lisa in person, more beautiful than Ray from Star Wars and more beautiful than seeing the Northern Lights in Ice Land. He has such a fine touch to his passes it is as if the hands of God reached down to him and gave him supreme basketball powers and major clout. Please take some time to watch these highlights, you will not regret it. Faze Up

Help with animation

Just thought this picture would help out DMA 1 with animation so there you go.

RED

I have been watching some videos on the RED cameras. They are insanely expensive and they have apparently been making a big move in the film industry. The high quality camera itself is about $50,000, but with all of the gear that you actual need to even be able to use it can add up to $130,000  The weird thing is that if you compared this to an iPhone X without any editing, the iPhone actually looks better a lot of the time. One of the reasons it's so expensive is that it shoots in 8k which nobody can even watch at because nobody has 8k monitors. The cool thing about the RED cameras however is that there is a lot of editing that can be done to get the perfect scene.
I personally think a gimbal is something we should look into buying. A gimbal provides extremely steady shots and a very cinematic feel for any video recorded with it. The only downside to one is the price and durability. They must be operated with intense care.

The Seaside

I've been looking around on YouTube and Vimeo for some ideas for the Golden Lion Awards and came across this video. I love how they used photographs to make a video sequence because it brought a different feel to the video. I also love how they made it kind of have a vintage feel to it too.

The Wolf (music video)

This music video has very unique animation in my opinion, and I love how fluid the movements of everything is. Even if the style isn't your taste, you must admit that it took a lot of time and effort to make (and the song is really catchy too ;) ). I recommend giving it a listen at least.

Different Dynamic

For Christmas I received a Rebel T5 and have since done many photo shoots with anyone who is willing. I love the differences in experiences depending on the subject. Each person brings a different dynamic to each shoot and has inspired me in different ways. Before DMA, photography sounded interesting but I never truly considered it. But now I can genuinely say I've fallen in love with it.

Lessons from the Screenplay

One of my favorite channels on YouTube is called Lessons from the Screenplay. The channel analyzes screenplays from films like Gone Girl, The Dark Knight and Star Wars. They " examine the techniques used to tell great stories, makes your own writing better and your appreciation for the stories deeper." I enjoy watching these types of videos because they make me respect the art of writing films and the effort it takes to write a compelling story. My favorite video they have made is about two of films I love, Whiplash and Black Swan . It compares the two films' screenplays and how they depict the "Obsessed Artist." Here is the video:

Lucas the Spider

This is Lucas the Spider. He is absolutely adorable and has almost 600k followers on Youtube. Lucas is voiced by a very imaginative kid. This is my favorite video on the channel so far but they are all very cute and well animated. Enjoy!

For the animators...

Hey guys! One of my favorite singers, dodie, just released a new music video, completely animated. I think the colors and the concept is really adorable, and it might inspire all you guys who love animation! My favorite part is the very end bit right before the credits.

Romeo Lacoste

I follow many tattoo artists on Instagram, but one artist in particular always seems to stick out to me. His name is Romeo Lacoste, and he’s based in Los Angeles, CA. What stands out to me about Romeo’s work is the attention to detail in his tattoos. He specializes in tiny single needle tattoos, and the detail put into every one of them is astounding. I’ll post a few photos here, but if you want to check out more of his work, his Instagram is @romeolacoste.

Cookie Art

Cookie art is something that has always been very interesting to me. The way the icing is shiny on the cookies will always amaze me. It takes a lot of skill to get the pretty designs with icing. I would know, because I’ve spent many, many, many hours trying to copy this cookie artists creations. Part of their skill has to do with creating the icing itself. For the art to look perfect, the icing has to be perfect in consistency. This artist shared her perfect consistency recipe on her website. I tasted it and it tastes good too. The feeling of the luscious, perfect consistency icing on my lips along with the aesthetic of the cookies perfect design, there really is nothing better in the world. Here is an example of some of her cookies.   thx

Tokyo Digital Art Exhibit

I recently came across a company called teamLab.  They put on digital art exhibits around the world.  One is actually happening right now in Tokyo, Japan.  Light is used to create a word entirely of it's own.  In some of the exhibits, guests are encouraged to walk knee deep in water which allows for some cool perspective photos.  I would really love to visit this exhibit at some point in my life. It is beautiful.

New Orleans

New Orleans, the place of wonder, inspiration, and creativity. New Orleans is a place that many venture to become inspired to create and explore. With the many amazing features with the bright lights and all of the good people, it is a place that many would love to explore.

Emilio Villalba

I recently found an artist who shares the majority of their work on twitter, and I really like their use of realism. The eyes almost look like photography because of how realistic the artist made them. The paint brush strokes give such a nice contrast to the tone of the eyes and faces featured throughout each piece.

Art

As a kid I always loved two things art and science. I was always fond of Albert Eisenstein and his theory's for light speed travel. This picture helps show case this through beautiful colors and renditions, it fills me with a sense of nostalgia and happiness when I look at this picture.

Music Art

Music has always been a big part of my life and I think everyone would have to agree getting in a car or sitting in your room and turning the bass up all the way and listening to some music is a great feeling. But what if you mixed art with music, I saw a video like these pictures on twitter the other day and it was so interesting to me that music could cause the speakers to bounce the paint up making these awesome patterns and creating a super cool picture.

Vander

Something that always inspires me is my little brother, he's always there when no one else is. I love how he looks in photos, and hes always so cute.

Lucas The Spider

I thought this animation was adorable, even if I am afraid of spiders. I thought that the creator was a genius from taking a very common phobia and making it less scary. I wonder who is the voice actor for Lucas is. How do you guys feel about this animation?
I love pineapples and I love summer and I wish I was on a beach eating pineapples so here is some pineapple art.

Paintings for Ants

Lorraine Loots is the artist behind "Paintings for Ants." I truly admire her work not only because of the size she works with but the detail she incorporates into her pieces. She has an amazing story and I highly recommend visiting her website or Instagram. Below are a few examples of her work and her website link.  http://lorraineloots.com/
This is a photo I took on the bike trail near the powder factory on Wednesday 1/10/18, on an iPhone 8 camera, without filters. With the long, narrowing path leading to a foggy distance, complete with the tall, eerie tower of the powder factory overlooking the ominous trees, it gives off a more mysterious feel.

"Ascension"-An Animated Short

A short film with a beautiful setting and a comedic plot. I personally enjoyed the style and seemingly simple plot of this animated short. I hope you enjoy it too.

"A Women's Work Is Never Done"- Eliza Bennett

Below are pictures of embroidery done by an artist named Eliza Bennett. As you can see, the embroidery is done directly onto the skin of her hand. When I first saw this, I was completely disturbed, as you might be, but I found I kept coming back to look at them again. I think its partly because I admire how Eliza was able to do this. The artist embroiders her hand on the very top layer of skin so there is no pain, only discomfort. On her website, she writes that she embroiders her hand to reflect an incredibly worn work hand. She writes that shes "Aiming to represent the effects of hard work arising from employment in low paid 'ancillary' jobs, such as cleaning, caring and catering, all traditionally considered to be 'women's work'." For me, it was the uncomfortable idea of her embroidery that first intrigued me, but I think her reasoning plus the embroidery on her own skin  results in a incredibly beautiful work of art. Finding Meaning

For a while now I've been struggling to find inspiration and a reason to go out and take photos or start a new piece of art containing a subject matter that I truly care about and like. I find it hard to be truly original nowadays, with the media as an outlet of proof to show who-did-what-first and whether or not your work is authentic. As an artist, I constantly worry that I'm copying another's work or idea, and it really puts me into a creative block. When I am at this point, I take to YouTube to watch inspiring videos for ideas and tips. As a fan of photography, here is a video that not only provides new ways to shoot, but gives tips to those with this style already.
