National School Walkout

On March 14th, students around the country participated in the National School Walkout. Quite a bit of students here at Kings did as well, and I was able to capture some important moments from it. One of my photos made the front cover of a CNN article titled, “9 of the Most Powerful Signs From the National Student Walkout”. I was really excited to have my photo recognized, and to have been able to capture something that will make history. Here’s a link to the article:  https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/03/14/us/student-walkout-best-signs-trnd/index.html?__twitter_impression=true

Typography

I really like this unit, typography is such a cool subject and super creative ideas can come from it. Here are a few examples of my favorites.

Future Dystopian Art

I like to share some pictures I thought are really cool, I love the creativity the artists have for scenery, like forgotten civilizations and a little bit of magic like floating rocks.  I think they are very inspirational if you like to create games or write a story.

iPhone Filmmaking

Today this trailer played as an ad before a YouTube video I was about to watch: This trailer is from new film Unsane . It piqued my interest because it's from one of my favorite filmmakers Steven Soderbergh. He is the director of the Ocean's movies and last year's  Logan Lucky . After researching it a bit I found out the entire film was shot on an iPhone 7 Plus! This is not the first feature shot on an iPhone, but I was surprised because I could not tell. I've been fascinated with the concept of making a movie on an iPhone for a while because it means that anyone can shoot a movie with the equipment they have in their pocket. Soderbergh said that from now on he will shoot his films with the iPhone. Over the last year, I have been using my phone more and more because the quality has improved with each generation. These are some of my favorite shots that I have filmed using my 6s: After watching Sean Baker's Tangerine (2015),

super rad camera

So I am really into photography, and I'm sure many of you are as well, but I've recently been looking into getting a camera for myself, and I found this gem at an antique store in my home town. It's not super fancy like the digital cameras you can buy at best buy and what not, but it produces beautiful pictures.
here is some cloud art that I found online. clouds are cool because they can set a tone or mood in a setting or background.

The Recurrent Dream

I wanted to share my most recent video project: The Reccurent Dream. I worked with Celeste Riddell and Bella Spleen on this mini project last week and entered it into Golden Lion. Two weeks ago, I was thinking I really wanted to create a random little video for Golden Lion because we were not able to enter our short film (we were not finished yet). I was hooked on the idea of some type of original voice-over and a visual to match. So, last Monday, Celeste sent me an excerpt of a poem she wrote and I brainstormed visual ideas that night. Bella and I went out and filmed the video Wednesday afternoon, I edited the 2 minute video Thursday night and into Friday morning, and after two exports, I finally submitted the video to Golden Lion that Friday, just before the deadline. I'm very happy with the final product! I wanted to produce something that became it's own style and played with visual effects (fast/slow motion). And with the time I had, I think I achieved just that. :)

Filming Tips and Tricks

Since I've been so into filming/directing/editing lately, I've been sucked into the world of YouTube tutorials. Specifically, videos by Peter McKinnon and a channel called Film Riot. Every video that I watch I learn something new. Peter McKinnon Having only recently started watching his videos, I don't know much about Peter McKinnon. However, I do know that he has amazing tips for photography and cinematography and he's incredibly skilled with a camera. So far, I've only watched Premiere editing and filming related videos, and he seems to know everything there is to know. Mostly, he has brought to light helpful tips or editing techniques that you wouldn't realize existed unless you stumbled upon them.  (However, he also does Photoshop tutorials, so if you're interested, I would highly recommend checking them out!) Below is the most recent video I have watched by Peter. In the video, he talks about a multi-camera editing mode you can do in Premie

Saving Escape

Here are some photos of my band from a photo shoot that we did not too long ago, I really like how the colors and overall look of these photos came out, these photos were taken by our bassists older sister, Sophie Graham.

Flat Earth

This is a really cool illustration on how the Earth really is. People who say the Earth is round are very uneducated and dumb. The earth has to be flat, if it wasn't then why don't balls continue rolling, and why are the bottoms of shoes flat? Exactly, the Earth is flat.
I loved Monster's Inc when I was younger so the prequel had a lot to live up to. It was really interesting to see the behind the scenes of this process and see the technology they use.

Cincinnati Art

Street art has always fascinated me, I have always wished that I could spray paint something extremely cool like the pictures posted above. The pictures above have been taken around Cincinnati of different street art murals on different buildings across the city. I think it is really cool how the artwork takes up the entire side of buildings. I like that businesses allow artists to come paint a design of their choice on the buildings, it gives the artist a sense of freedom and then puts it on display for thousands of people to see everyday.

Diana f+

Something that I really like about photography is how many unique ways you can capture a picture. My sister has this camera. It is the Diana f+. Taking pictures on is it very specific and hard to do. It takes on film and you have to send the film to a special processor to get them developed. It takes a lot of work but once you get it right the pictures are really cool. This is a picture of one of the camera and some of the pictures people have taken on it.

Smoke Bomb

I love this technique used in photography because it enhances the scenery and the subject of the photo to a certain extent that almost looks unreal.

Rain Barrel

Every year the Cincinnati Zoo teams up with SaveLocalWaters to raise money for water conservation. The zoo reviews and accepts submissions from local artists to paint rain barrels to be auctioned off. This project is a way to educate the public and raise money. I decided to contribute a barrel this year because my submission was accepted! I attached pictures of my (almost) finished barrel and also the link to the Save Local Waters website. I highly recommend submitting a design in the years following. There is an awesome group of people in charge of the barrels and it's for a great cause. I hope you enjoy! The rain barrels will be on display at the Cincinnati zoo starting March 31st and the auction will be online April 9th and 19th.   http://www.savelocalwaters.org/#content
This is obviously graffiti art. This art can be amazing and bring out talent for many young artists but can be bad as well. most people paint on the side of buildings so graffiti gets a bad rep, but a lot of times it is a cool looking piece of work

Light graffiti

This is my light graffiti project photo. I really enjoyed doing light graffiti, I think it adds a cool spin on taking pictures in the dark and just photography in general. In this photo is my friend lil skies. We did a basic outline of him using a phone light.

Modern warfare 2 Remastered

Call of Duty announced that in 2019 they will remaster modern warfare 2. Modern warfare 2 is the best call of duty they've ever made and the best one for pwning counsel plebs. Too bad I wont be able to afford it because I will be broke.

John Wick Fortnite

This is  post on how detailed Fortnite is. the animators are very good at their job! One day i hope to work on this game too! that would be  dream-come true! anyways i love how the new skins they are adding are so dope! Cant wait to play as john wick!

The Pathless Woods

On a beautiful late winter Evening, Chris Marion enjoys a hidden waterfall along Landen Trail, and decides to pose majestically. Our choir teacher, Mrs. Milthaler, earlier tasked us with finding photos of nature to match the theme of the "Pathless Woods" which is the name of one of the songs we are singing. As it turns out, the waterfall was quite off the path.

Rareform

I found this video and it immediately caught my attention. The creativity of this company is, in my opinion, amazing. I hope that you found this as interesting as I did!

Animals as Subjects

Some of my favorite subjects to photograph are animals, especially my dogs. It's always fun to set my camera to a high shutter speed and photograph them while they're moving. That way, I get some pretty interesting shots like the one of my dog rolling around on the ground. It's in these photos that their true personalities shine through, and that's what I think is most fun about photographing them. This doesn't just go for dogs though, all animals can make for great and intriguing subjects. You never know what you're going to get!

Cute things that make me laugh and inspire me when I'm down

Baby animals have always been a fan favorite, and these little ones just kept me smiling no matter what I do. I absolutely love this video and it makes me smile and helps me to distress, it also makes me think about how the animals move in the video. This makes me think about animate and how the characters will move.
The clothing store Zumiez is doing a competition for artists to design a couch. It's an international competition and whoever wins is sent one of their own designs on a Zumiez couch and a chance to win many other prizes. It's a cool concept and a lot of people participate. If you don't want to be a traditional artist with the traditional canvas, this gives you a chance to do furniture design which is fun.
These are some photos taken in Youngstown, Ohio. Youngstown is a very cool place to take photos because of how many abandoned buildings and factories are in the city.
