The words mural and graffiti have very different connotations. Mural gives a stigma of gorgeous heart with strong meaning and intention. Graffiti gives a stigma of vandalism on the streets. But when the two come together it creates something truly inspiring. Each mural has a different approach but both are graphic in nature. Graffiti comes in many different forms and each artist is able to express themselves in multiple ways through this single medium.
This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well. From a fellow artist: take the opportunities that you are given and work hard doing what you love. I was just in downtown Cincinnati and I always love walking past the huge murals.
ReplyDeleteGreat job synthesizing the words mural and graffiti Megan! I really love the first image and the contour on the face!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors and interpretations. The shapes in these two specific ones work together in harmony
