In AP, we recently did a project revolved around using contour lines to define the edges of an object in a photo. Most of us used a watercolor brush to color the photo and we revealed parts of the original photo as well as hid other parts. I love this style because it has the potential to look great and it's relatively easy to do. This photo above is just one example of the technique. If you are interested in the technique you can research it but it's hard to find online since most "contour line drawings" are on paper, it's a similar technique but the element of color is usually left out. I might end up using this technique in my concentration.
This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well. From a fellow artist: take the opportunities that you are given and work hard doing what you love. Nice post Tommy, I enjoyed this project!
ReplyDeleteI really like the technique in this photo, how the artist made it more detailed in one area rather than the whole portrait.
