Shields asked us to do our own research on this, so I'm saving everyone the trouble by posting it here. If you haven't figured it out by now, scanner photography is the arranging of objects on a scanner, and taking a high resolution scan of them. The term scanography (which has two spellings apparently) originates from the medical world. So far I've counted 7 different styles of scanner photography, which I won't go into for the sake of time, but I'm sure there are more than that. There's plenty of flexibility in terms of how this art style can be used, so if you're still wondering what you could do for your children's book, I suggest this.
This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well. From a fellow artist: take the opportunities that you are given and work hard doing what you love.
