Hi I'm Mikayla Werner & I'm in DMA 1. I am a person that really enjoys watercolor and the effect that it gives pictures. I really liked how these artists took a picture or painting and added some watercolor to add a story or a certain emotion. I would really love to try and do something like this in the future :)

  1. I freaking LOVE these pictures!!! The contrast in colors used in the splatter around the hair really brings out the youthfulness of the two subjects. It looks like their brain is exploding- symbolizing their creativity and individuality. Love it!

  2. I never realized watercolor could make pictures look so great. These are beautiful photos.

  3. I love the watercolor and how they appear to be messy and dripping. The color combination is also pretty. Loveee it :)))

  6. I think this could easily be translated from digital to actual painting, this could even be painted and scanned in to create a digital collage of sorts.

  7. The first one is my favorite of the two because I love the relationship between soft and hard lines and textures it has. For example, the shading is very soft and subtle but their eyes are very hard and piercing.

Last Blog Post

This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well. From a fellow artist: take the opportunities that you are given and work hard doing what you love. Speed Painting

This a painting made in Photoshop by a guy who goes by the name " The Concept Painter " on Youtube. He does lots of Photoshop speed painting videos and also air brush videos. This particular painting took him 3.5 hours to complete and was made using a drawing tablet similar to the ones we use in our class.

Another Comic Book Artist (Woo!): Annie Wu

If you have talked to me for more than one minute, I am a huge nerd. So, I am making another post about comic book artists. This time it's Annie Wu. She's a comic book artists who lives in Chicago, and is one of my inspiration artists for my sustained investigation. A lot of her work is dramatic with deep and dark lines with bold colors which is makes style perfect for where I first found her work. I first saw her work in the Black Canary book in 2017. Eventually, I will talk about Marvel comic book artists, but not today. If you want to check out more of her work, here is her website:  https://www.anniewuart.com/
