Hey guys it's Abbey. So in AP DMA, we've been practicing our drawing abilities. We'v been doing different shading, contour line drawing, and value exercises. It can be difficult, but when I came across this on Pinterest, I realized how simple it was. When coloring a glass bottle like this, you don't just use darker values of green, you start to use browns and reds. I thought it was really interesting, and crazy how complex a glass bottle can be to color.

I really like this piece that was done in illustrator using the same principles that we recently used to do our illustrated portraits in DMA 1. I liked how the whole thing was done only with geometric shapes with nothing being rounded. I used this same concept on my illustrated portrait and think it does a good job of keeping the realism of the image along with adding a personal touch to it.

  So I was looking on the internet for some cool art and came across this. This work is done by CJ Hendry. She bought a pair of $9,000 Nike AirMags, dipped them in black paint, took a picture, and then drew them. When I first saw the piece I was amazed by how real it looked and I also wondered why she would do this to such nice shoes!?! I personally think it paid off.  I really like how she made the shoes look 3-D and how the paint actually looks like paint. I looked further into it and found a website I think everyone should check out. http://www.thecoolhunter.net/  It has other amazing art and tells the story of them all.

I think after spending a couple of weeks on illustrator we should all be able to do this amazing type of work. I also like they made the glasses look real even though he did triangles.

Hi all, Katrina Kessler here. For this week's blog post, I decided to not post about conventionally beautiful art, but the dark, angsty side of things. The unrefined style and messy method of these pieces stick out to me and make me think. They dig into your inner shadow (going T Hicks here) and bubble emotions up from the back of your mind and to the surface. They're all thought provoking and visually intriguing, leaving the interpretation up to the viewer and using the dark quality of charcoal to create dramatic contrast.

I just really enjoy all the different colors presented in this piece and how this piece looks dimensional. 

I really love all the detail presented in this Illustrator project! And the details in the goggles from the glare of the original photo. 

I found this artist for a project in this class and I've continued to look at her work afterwards. I love the simple style of the contour lines, but her pieces are still so detailed. I love the oriental influences in her pieces that came from growing up in a Chinese family. I also thought it was interesting that she would draw many of these with a pen or illustrator or another program, and then go back through with photoshop to add the colors. I love that approach because it makes it seem like watercolor. 

I found these pictures on Instagram and am obsessed.  I love how there is more than just a drawing. She adds sparkles or sequins and I think that's what really makes her art pop. I really like her work and definitely will use this as inspiration for my sketchbook.

I have always been obsessed with oil paintings but have never found the means, the time, or the patience to do one myself. i specifically love the oil paintings that are very messy, the ones that look like they have many many layers on the canvas. The ones that kind of reach out to you. Like these:

Although we just finished portraits in Illustrator, I thought this was a really cool example of one and taking something realistic and adding fictional elements to it. In the tutorial  I thought all the changes that were done to the image prior to starting in Illustrator was a really good idea! This tutorial really helps show all the fine tuning and detail work that goes in to making digital portraits.

Hi guys!  So I know a lot of us, especially AP, have been working on drawing skills. I found this on Pinterest and thought that it would be a good thing to do so we have something to draw everyday. I am going to start over break so I have time to do the first few without homework. Hope you guys like it! -Emily Hoyle

    I really like how they combined elements of nature with the human eye to create this piece. It's cool that they used the waterfall to create the illusion of tears.

I think this is really cool because I love that there are two images in one. I also really like the black and white because it allows for a high contrast and I really like that effect. 

            An artist named Kenneth Rougeau uses bugs and other nature to create stunning patterns and colors. The true beauty of this work is not seen from a distance. Only from up close can you see that the work is made from intricately placed insects to create a kaleidoscope effect.

I like this picture because of the color and perspective of it. It also has small details such as shooting stars and the sun in the background that shine through.

I love this picture because it looks very robotic and I love the use of geometric shapes. It doesn't go with the theme of nature and it definitely gives it a different feel. Also I love the pop of one color and it is very eye appealing.

Its a concept art on my favorite anime. I just love how there drawn, you can see that great detail was put into these characters, the color and design for these characters is so cool. The colors,the lighting, and the shadows all really well done.

This is an Illustrator portrait of Marilyn Monroe. I love the detail in the hair, how you can see all the shapes that make up the curls, but they aren't the conventional circular curls you would usually think of.  The detail in the face is also really cool, how the shadows follow irregular, wavy patterns rather than typical straight or rounded ones.

After changing my concentration idea 87 times I finally decided to stay with one. I'm showing fashion through the seasons and patterns are the focus. These photos shot by Guy Coombes portray what I'm trying to do. There is the illusion that the patterned clothes are blended into the background and I want to include a mix of graphic design, photography and fashion within my pieces.

You all might have seen Punziella's artwork before, she did the pictures of Disney Princesses in modern day outfits, which I thought was really cool so I was looking at what else she created and I found others that I really liked. Taylor Swift's Bad Blood video was advertised with all the different characters, so Punziella took that and used the Disney Princesses, again, as the people in the video. I just thought it was a cool twist and since we're working with illustrator right now it's interesting to see what other artists are doing with it/applications like it. 

You're all probably familiar with Banksy, so here's artist ABVH who takes Banksy's graffiti and turns it into animations. I love how the artist stays true to the original graffiti, but also adds their own twist and creative vision to the piece, expanding on the story Banksy has already started to create. I think this digital painting was done with excllence. I love how the freckles look like they were done with a coffee stain brush or like a paint splat brush. It makes it look a lot more realistic. The crop of the photo is dramatic and gives an interesting perspective. Overall I think it's very pretty and captures the complexity of humans in such a simple way. 

I really like these drawings with a pen. Since you can't erase pen or fix your mistakes it makes these so much cooler because they're so good!

Iv'e gotten a little bit obsessed with fruit lately, and I think looking at fruit in new ways is super interesting. One of which is through carving and creating physical objects, as shown above.  

Since we're about to start our illustrated portrait of a person of our choice, I've been looking at different styles and examples. I love how drastically geometric this portrait is. Every color change and shadow is detailed. I might try to emulate this style when I go to do my own piece.

Hey guys so for my concentration i am portraying the Stereotypes and the actual way people are in high school. It's my way of showing everyone that to make a fair judgement of someone you have to get to know them, because often times people are not as they are seen

I like this photo because it is painted in lots of detail. You can really relate the color, such as the top of the ball and the way it shadows in the yellow paint into more colors. 

        This is a great example of an illustrator vector art with a good collision of Master Chief and Darth Vader made by Justin Maller. Shows the different kinds of art that can be made by putting different shapes together
