Back in 1988, arguably one of the most innovative sneakers was released. The Air Jordan 3, the shoe designed for the greatest basketball player of all time Michael Jordan, was created by a designer named Tinker Hatfield. What made the sneaker so interesting was the incorporation of an air bubble on the sole of the shoe. At the time, such a design had never been thought of making it crazy, but at the same time the new hottest thing. What inspires me the most about Hatfield's design is the fact that he was willing to push boundaries and create something that went on to be one of the main features used in many shoes to this day, and all it took was an idea and a person willing to move in a different direction.
This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well. From a fellow artist: take the opportunities that you are given and work hard doing what you love.
