Scott Pilgrim V.S. the World, written and directed by Edgar Wright, is the 2010 film adaptation of the graphic novel series published in 2004. The story follows a loner named Scott Pilgrim who falls in love with the new girl in town, Ramona Flowers; however, in order to date her, Scott must defeat her seven evil exes. Both mediums are heavily inspired by retro video games and anime. Although I have not read the books, I have seen the movie multiple times and it's one of my personal favorites. The movie has likable characters, goofy comedy, and awesome action scenes; but my favorite aspect of the movie is the strong emphasis on visual presentation and exaggeration. There's always exciting happening on screen that makes the movie feel like a comic book or an anime. Overall, this film is a fun, nerdy, epic collection of comedy, romance, and action that I'd highly recommend.
This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well.
