Colin Blu (@televisionblue)

These are a few of my favorite pieces from Colin Blu's portfolio. I love the broad variety of his work and how he uses different graphics and contrasts to push his message across. He allows his audience to interpret his art by giving every piece a vague title and he allows room for imagination. His pieces on the top and bottom represent more of that, while the piece in the middle is obviously a tribute to Frank Ocean using various shapes. He not only combines those shapes and colors to work together for one image, but he takes inspiration from original photos and changes the aspects of it to benefit his own creation. I take inspiration through the shapes and patterns used in his work to hopefully someday use it creatively whether it's in painting or drawing.

  2. I love this style. I dig the shape placement in the second picture, it gives an element of 3D to a 2D painting.

Last Blog Post

This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well. From a fellow artist: take the opportunities that you are given and work hard doing what you love. Speed Painting

This a painting made in Photoshop by a guy who goes by the name " The Concept Painter " on Youtube. He does lots of Photoshop speed painting videos and also air brush videos. This particular painting took him 3.5 hours to complete and was made using a drawing tablet similar to the ones we use in our class.

Another Comic Book Artist (Woo!): Annie Wu

If you have talked to me for more than one minute, I am a huge nerd. So, I am making another post about comic book artists. This time it's Annie Wu. She's a comic book artists who lives in Chicago, and is one of my inspiration artists for my sustained investigation. A lot of her work is dramatic with deep and dark lines with bold colors which is makes style perfect for where I first found her work. I first saw her work in the Black Canary book in 2017. Eventually, I will talk about Marvel comic book artists, but not today. If you want to check out more of her work, here is her website:  https://www.anniewuart.com/
