Cry Me An Ocean

I came across this picture while "Pinteresting" and it immediately caught my eye. The contrast between color and blank space really makes this piece special. In my opinion the picture represents just how deep her sorrow is (hence the whale). The fact that it looks hand drawn but also some what Photoshoped is really appealing. But the main reason I like this piece is because anyone can stare at it long enough and connect with it, because I'm sure everyone has cried hard enough and for so long that you feel like you've cried an ocean.

  1. This is a great picture, and your right really relatable. I like how the teal looks like water colour. I also like how they added color to only certain parts and not everything.

  2. I LOVE THIS. This art style is to die for. I love the way that the artist used a touch of water color on her nose and cheeks. I'd like to think that they did this because when someone cries, the nose and cheeks become flushed. The lack of neat lines also helps pull the picture together!

  3. This artwork is very interesting. I really like how there is a define line of color, but the addition of the tear steam for the eye "crosses the line".

  4. I really love this piece, it's very interesting how the girl is sketched out, but the water and whale are in color. The blend of the greens and blues together form a great display of the ocean/tears.

Last Blog Post

This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well. From a fellow artist: take the opportunities that you are given and work hard doing what you love. Speed Painting

This a painting made in Photoshop by a guy who goes by the name " The Concept Painter " on Youtube. He does lots of Photoshop speed painting videos and also air brush videos. This particular painting took him 3.5 hours to complete and was made using a drawing tablet similar to the ones we use in our class.

Another Comic Book Artist (Woo!): Annie Wu

If you have talked to me for more than one minute, I am a huge nerd. So, I am making another post about comic book artists. This time it's Annie Wu. She's a comic book artists who lives in Chicago, and is one of my inspiration artists for my sustained investigation. A lot of her work is dramatic with deep and dark lines with bold colors which is makes style perfect for where I first found her work. I first saw her work in the Black Canary book in 2017. Eventually, I will talk about Marvel comic book artists, but not today. If you want to check out more of her work, here is her website:  https://www.anniewuart.com/
