Jordan Matter




Jordan Matter is a photographer that is well known for taking pictures of dancers in unique locations and ways. He began his career as a professional actor, and became a photographer by chance. Matter's grandfather (Herbert Matter) was a highly successful photographer and his father (Alex Matter) was a film director. So, you could say being around the camera is in his blood. Images of humanity moved Matter and made him interested in how to take intimate pictures of people. Matter is also known for his 10 minute challenges, where he only has 10 minutes to take pictures of dancers in different locations and in unique ways.

    I love the weightlessness captured in these photos. It really adds a depth and deeper understanding to them.

    I adore how Jordan Matter is able to capture these shots so clearly with his subjects being in motion. He would of had to time his shots perfectly in order to take these shots. Thanks for sharing!

This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited.
