Goodbye DMA :((((((

I'm not gonna lie, the only thing I am going to miss about high school is this class and everybody I met through it. Taking DMA was so fun and has helped me figure out what I am doing with my life and I am so thankful for it. I am going to UC next year and majoring in graphic design.  Based on how this class went, I know that it will never feel like I have to work a day in my life :))  If you don't plan on taking AP DMA next year, change your plans. If you do plan on taking the class next year, be prepared for A LOT OF WORK (don't worry it's all fun). I also recommend becoming close friends with the people in your class because you will be together a lot and it is nice to have people to stress out with!! If there is someone in your class who won't talk, throwing a surprise party for them in class seems to work pretty well at warming them up ;) My website if you wanna see cool stuff or judge it idc:   http://bridgetdavis503.wixsite.com/mysite

RIP AP DMA 2017

Goodbye DMA, it's been a good run. Although I cannot foresee myself having a career involving art in the future, I love making art as a hobby and hope to continue developing my skills with the Adobe Programs. S/O to Mrs. Shields for being amazing and the whole AP squad for making this year fun. For kids taking AP DMA next year, get an idea for your concentration ASAP. I changed my idea over four weeks in and felt crunched for time. Also, turn in your work on time so that Mrs. Shields is more lenient when you want to do fun stuff. And if someone in your class won't talk to you, have a party for them! Check out my website: http://laurengoslee.wixsite.com/digitalmedia   Farewell!

Glimmer of light

This is one of the photos I have taken recently using HDR techniques. I really love how this shows the use of light and shadow, as well how bright the green field behind the gate stands out. In the photo you can really see how the light peeks through the gate.

Eden

This singer, is one of my favorites, and I am using one of his music videos as inspiration for my music video project. I enjoy the retro feeling and the words of the lyrics being used in the video. To emphasis the meaning in each word as it is weaved within the video. And i love the city shots and the angles they use for their video as it hints a story behind the video and song.

Starry Night

I photographed this picture and it reminds me of happiness and sadness at the same time. I believe that the colors really bring out the mood of this piece. At first glance you notice the sky but then your eyes slowly creep down the image till you recognize the beauty in the sidewalk and the grass. I think this piece could win awards so if you're willing to buy it please contact me with a reasonable price. Thanks.

Artist's Bread and Butter

So, I know when it comes to drawing whether it's traditionally with a pencil and paper or digitally with a tablet and computer, artists struggle to draw particular things. References are a blessing among artist's and I'm here to supply some. I found a dA artist by the name of Kibbitzer who has created references that are free to use when you need assistance when drawing. They have references for all your needs such as, hands, feet, legs, to even smaller things like, braided hairstyles, top hats, and even corgis! All of these references and plenty more are available, Here at Kibbitzer's Reference Sheets Folder Hope y'all appreciate these like I most definitely do!

Bye everyone :'(

This is my farewell post, this class was my favorite and I'm really sad for it to end, but I'm also really excited for my future. Next year I will be attending DAAP at the University of Cincinnati, Majoring in Communication Design (graphic design) and Minoring in Fine Arts. I'm so grateful for everything Mrs. Shields has done for me and the rest of the AP DMA class.  Honestly not kidding I think she played a big part in me getting into DAAP.  To the upcoming AP DMA class, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. Seriously I've pulled way too many all nighters for this class, use your time wisely and get your projects done in class. Also start thinking about concentration ideas and if your'e dead set on an idea don't feel bad if it doesn't workout. My first idea was Digital Collage and I tried one concentration of it and decided it wasn't what I wanted to do for a whole year. I'm really glad this happened though because I love my concentration, so get creativ...

Cool Piglet

I think this piece of art is very coo. It uses a unique angle and unique colors that you would never see on a pig. It is a fun and vibrant piece that brings out a lot of emotions in me.

FRIDA KAHLO PORTRAIT

Omar Ortiz is an artist that was working with the cultural museum "Gabriel Garcia Marquez" in Bogota, Colombia to create a portrait from one of the original pictures of Frida Kahlo.  It's gonna be out to the public on August 27th of this year.

Nature is LIT

I found this awesome picture of the diver and the school of fish on pinterest while searching for inspiration for our hdr project, and realized nature is freaking cool. So I found the original contest that the picture was entered into and wanted to share the other awesome photographs that won the competition. (Even though the island picture came second to the aurora one i thought it was sweet) Maybe these will inspire you too!

Abstract Oil Paintings

These paintings are by an artist named Nataliya Derevyanko. She has a weird imagination when it comes to her paintings. Her artwork caught my eye because it's very different from your typical oil paintings. You can find the link to her website  here
I found this art while scrolling through twitter, and what I love most about it is the material used. These were created with painted coffee on old papers. Sometimes, it seems as if art can become an expensive hobby, buying nice paints or pencils or canvases... not to mention the costs of photoshop and cameras! But this just goes to show that beautiful and intriguing art can be attained with simple materials found around your house! As long as the passion is thee, people will always find a way to create.

Cool flipbook animation

I really like the idea of a hard copy animation. Something you can make move with your hands. When I was little I would always draw animations like these on my notebooks. This is a cool one because it has Michael Jackson and is also very detailed

Music for my animation!

In my animation I decided to have my friend Nick Braun make the background music. This was the first (and my favorite) Version of the song which he later changed and it was that version I put in my final Animation. Hopefully it works and you can hear the song.  :) Anyways here is his soundcloud account if you are interested in hearing more https://soundcloud.com/groovyuni/

All About the Details...

The attention to detail on parts of movies people barely look at...

Animation Sneak Peak

So, here I have a little .gif of my character Whisp doing his walk cycle. I wanted him to be a bit more bouncy and springy because he's an overall happy character and I wanted to give him something that portrayed that. Thus, a trot. I'm really happy with how he turned out in general. From his idle animation, to his mood change, He's a cute little character and I'm super excited to show off his little story. This is also partly because I'm missing a blog post and I needed to get caught up.

3D Hard Art

This is a really cool tutorial of how to do a hand painting. It's pretty cool. I like the colors that they use to blemd the blue and the colors and the shading and the lend. It reminds me of the scene in Willy Wonka where Varooka is a bad egg and gets down the spinny wonderland shoot and all of the orange  midgets  dance.

A Little Bouncing Sheep

Since we are working on our animations at school, I thought I would share something. This little character is named Floof. He is a sheep that bounces for a walk as a sort of excited jump. He is based off of a bouncing ball and squishes a bit to resemble that he is a bit playful and a live creature.      The main character, Floof's friend, is a robot and has a bit more robotic/simple walk with no distorting. This is made to resemble the differences between the two and to show how they communicate and see each other as creatures. *bounce bounce*

Justin Escolona

Justin Escolona's website and work This is just one of Justin's many works, he does everything from photography to film. I love the way he uses darkness and light in his different photos and also love his editing style with his videos. The way he shoots his different shots are so interesting. And in his photography i love how he uses light to focus on one specific thing while the backdrop is darker.

Reused Animation

As I was finishing up my animation I noticed that I was drawing a lot less and simply reusing animations in other scenes. I was curious if this was a commonly used technique? Sure enough, this is widely used, especially in older animated Disney films. I thought it was interesting that what we thought was a unique Disney animation was really reused from an older movie, just with different characters.

Interesting Art Channel on YT!

Hey all! One of my friends recently recommended a YouTube channel to me called Peter Draws. Pretty self explanatory; in each video, this man named Peter... draws! He's a pen-on-paper artist, not a digital one, but some of his drawings reminded me of the mandala we made in Illustrator a couple months ago. I hope somebody finds this guy as cool as I do! Here's his channel trailer.

Cool album cover art

This is the cover art for logics new album coming and i like it cause it looks like a more futuristic version of 'The Last Supper'.

Scrapbooking

I recently just bought a brand new scrapbook in hopes of being able to document my life in a more creative way rather than just a bunch of photo albums. I love the way scrapbooks look because of their many layers that include lots of textures, stickers, writing, pictures, and even drawing sometimes. While trying to start I've been looking up tons of sample scrapbook pages in hopes that I can make mine look as good as theirs. These are some of my favorites that I've seen so far.

Knight of Innovation Poster

This is my Knight of Innovation poster. In AP DMA we were assigned to create a poster about pollinators for the STEAM night. I created this one about flowers that feed pollinators. I used Illustrator to create everything and live painted the flowers.

Apple's New (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7

Apple recently decided to release a red version of the iPhone 7. Every purchase of the new red phone contributes to the Global Fund to support HIV/AIDS programs and help deliver an AIDS-free generation. With the iPhone 7 being so popular, this could be a big benefit to many of these global programs. Check it out below. Link:  http://www.apple.com/product-red/

Animation Inspiration

This is a video game called Inside and it's part of the inspiration for my animation. Inside is a puzzle adventure game developed by Playdead. I've watched the game be played on YouTube and I really enjoyed the eerie mood the style and story gave off. There's no dialog and you are thrown into the game being chased through dark woods and you don't know why. As you play through, the story is reviled, and I think that and the style of the game gives it it's eerie feeling.  The story of my animation is suppose to be ghostly and eerie starting off so I really gravitated towards Inside's game style for inspiration. I took the idea of the fog, dim lighting, and abandon areas to use in my animation but portrayed in my style. Also, I used Inside's style of gray scale and limited or a single color (my main character) to help portray the eerie feeling.  Overall, I thought this game was really beautifully created and the story is really interesting and I recom...
