Good to be back : )))

Over the summer I went to my favorite bands concert; Cage the Elephant, one of the openers for the concert was a band called Portugal the Man. I really loved their music in concert, so when I got home I looked them up and found this album by them called In The Mountain In The Cloud, I absolutely love the design of this album cover and I know it will be a big inspiration to me when thinking of concentration ideas.

Collages are some of my favorite things to make and I really love that this collage incorporates vector art into the collage.  The design is so intricate and interesting to look at, and the bright colors of the vector art really pop and bring the whole piece together. I love the abstractness of the piece and when you take a closer look at the piece you notice so much more than you did at first glance.

(I also highly recommend their music it's 10/10)

  1. I really like the contrasts of the colors and how they're all very close together and then the rest of the picture is left blank. I also like how the colors draw even more attention to the center to make those parts seem more interesting.

  4. LOVE THIS!! it seems like a mix of everything we've done in class so far this year, it has some contour line and digital collage elements to it.

  5. I love that this shows a way you can mix a bunch of techniques we've learned! Sometimes pieces can be beautiful when focusing on one technique, but it can be so much more interesting with others as well! Simply the vector designs would not have made this cover so complete without the images collaged and the color scheme as well! I love it!

Last Blog Post

This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well. From a fellow artist: take the opportunities that you are given and work hard doing what you love. Speed Painting

This a painting made in Photoshop by a guy who goes by the name " The Concept Painter " on Youtube. He does lots of Photoshop speed painting videos and also air brush videos. This particular painting took him 3.5 hours to complete and was made using a drawing tablet similar to the ones we use in our class.

Another Comic Book Artist (Woo!): Annie Wu

If you have talked to me for more than one minute, I am a huge nerd. So, I am making another post about comic book artists. This time it's Annie Wu. She's a comic book artists who lives in Chicago, and is one of my inspiration artists for my sustained investigation. A lot of her work is dramatic with deep and dark lines with bold colors which is makes style perfect for where I first found her work. I first saw her work in the Black Canary book in 2017. Eventually, I will talk about Marvel comic book artists, but not today. If you want to check out more of her work, here is her website:  https://www.anniewuart.com/
