So this is something I just discovered today and I would love to learn more about. The artist takes the tape out of a cassette and uses it to form the person's outline and hair. I love alternative mediums, and Erika Iris is one who uses a lot of them to create art. Take a look at her website http://iri5.com/tape-art/ to see more cassette tape art as well as some other amazing pieces made from different materials.
This is my last blog post for my senior year, so I'd like to say that I am so glad I took DMA classes throughout high school. I've learned so much and I wouldn't be where I am today without my experiences in the classes. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design this coming fall and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thinking about majoring and working in the film industry, however, I will be pursuing all and any forms of art in the future as well. From a fellow artist: take the opportunities that you are given and work hard doing what you love. I think this is really cool. I can't imagine how long it would take to get all of the strands to be placed correctly. all the art has a nice contrast.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet! You don't even really notice it is cassette tape until you see the actual tape itself. I can't get over how cool this is!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cool! I love how someone took something as simple as a cassette and turned it into a piece of art
ReplyDeleteThe way they made Jackson's hair so real and how you can easily identify who the person they are trying to make real shows how much effort the artist put into it.
