Amazing Angles.

I found this picture awhile ago on tumblr and immediately fell in love with the angle of the picture. Im a huge photography freak and I can only imagine what the photographer had to be thinking when they got this amazing shot. Also, YES the photo is supposed to be sideways!

Art Lights

Everyone should take a look at James Turrel's instagram. He makes art out of different lighting shades. Very interesting!

Scanography (Scannography)

Shields asked us to do our own research on this, so I'm saving everyone the trouble by posting it here.  If you haven't figured it out by now, scanner photography is the arranging of objects on a scanner, and taking a high resolution scan of them. The term scanography (which has two spellings apparently) originates from the medical world. So far I've counted 7 different styles of scanner photography, which I won't go into for the sake of time, but I'm sure there are more than that. There's plenty of flexibility in terms of how this art style can be used, so if you're still wondering what you could do for your children's book, I suggest this.

Carl's Sea Adventure

For my first week posting to the blog, I thought I'd post the character design for mine and Frodo's entry in the Japanese Children's Book Thingy Thing. Our story features a cat who helps save the ocean waters and its habitants.
Hey guys! Thought I would share this cool picture I got off of tumblr. The story behind it was that the lake was frozen except for a thin layer of water on top, which is why you can see the reflections! Such good composition

Neat Painting

Since were currently doing digital paintings in DMA I I thought i would post this really cool one I found. I love how bright and colorful it is and how all of the different bright colors flow together.

Words n' Stuff

Hey so i'm a new kid at this, but I wanted to share this particular photo to point out that- 1. I really like it ok.  2. I really think that the words stand out and are the main focus of the picture. 3. Keeping in mind that it's a pretty cool location and the greatest time of day.  The sky is a beautiful color even though it's blurred out, It's just really cool that it's blurred down to the core. Thank you.

Hobo Nickels

The altering of coins can be seen as early as the 1850s, but became an art in the year 1913, with the introduction of the buffalo nickel. In the next 77 years following, it would have its own artists, with each generation contributing in their own quiet way to an underground art. I know that the altering of coins is a federal offense (the destruction of government property) but I still find this very interesting, and wouldn't mind trying something like it.

Dr. Seuss

Why we love  Dr. Seuss ! Since we are making childrens' books, I thought I'd look up why children love Dr. Seuss!
